Rides roll in at Guildford shopping mall during spring break in Surrey

West Coast Amusements’ rides will be set up outside Guildford Town Centre shopping mall for a week-plus, starting on Friday afternoon, March 15.

The arrival of the attraction coincides with spring break for students at Surrey’s public schools, which runs from March 18 until Tuesday, April 2, the day after Easter Monday.

The amusement company’s website details the hours of operations at Guildford, from noon until 10 p.m. on most days, ending Sunday, March 24.

The rides will be closed on Tuesday, March 19.

“All dates & hours are variable as they are dependent on weather & guest attendance,” the website notes.

Ride-pass wristbands sell for $45, and coupons are also available on site.

Later this month, from March 28 to 31, the West Coast rides will be set up at Tsawwassen Mills Shopping Centre in Delta, and on the May long weekend at Cloverdale Rodeo & Country Fair.

Headquartered in Chilliwack, West Coast Amusements is “the largest Canadian midway operation in Western Canada and one of the few that remains family-operated,” according to a post on the company’s website.

“West Coast Amusements has 125 rides, employs 500 staff at peak season, and has four travelling units. From April to September, these four units co-ordinate to set up and operate more than 100 fairs and rodeos across Canada and into the Southern U.S.

“West Coast Amusements also contracts services and equipment for large gigs such as Vancouver’s Pacific National Exhibition and the Calgary Stampede.”
