Police have arrested one woman, while identifying two other men possibly involved in a “suspicious” fire at Roadhouse Grille restaurant in South Surrey.

On Monday (May 6) at about 6 a.m., Surrey Fire Service and police responded to reports of a fire at the restaurant, which was extinguished. No injuries were reported, while damage was sustained to the building, a media release from Surrey RCMP reads.

In a social media post, Roadhouse Grille states this fire near the outside of the kitchen door was the second one the business has experienced over the course of a year.

“It breaks our hearts to see the extent of the damage caused by this senseless act. All our food had to be tossed, we need new coolers, and our building may have structural damage,” the post reads.

The restaurant is closed until the owners “get back on our feet.”

According to police, a 27-year-old woman was arrested in relation to the fire and has been released with a court date set. Two men have also been identified by investigators as “persons of interest,” the release goes on to say.

Other businesses in the area were reportedly hit with attempted break-and-enters and another incident of a small fire near a garbage can.

“One business had their window smashed and another business had the lock to their front door tampered with,” the release states, but entry was not gained into either business.

Police are canvassing the area and speaking to witnesses, while asking for additional ones with information or individuals with CCTV or dash camera footage to come forward. Surrey RCMP can be contacted by phone at 604-599-0502, quoting file number 2024-63604.
